Why Winidows Does What It Does
Sometimes you wonder why Windows does what it does. This site is very good at explaining a lot of it. If you have been around Windows for a while of it some of it is obvious. It also makes you glad you do not have to code in c or C++.

Delphi 2005 Reviewer's Guide
This is an interesting read. Looks like the best Delphi ever. It is what I was expecting in Delphi 8.
Personas
I have read about this for a number of years, I have never actually used it. hopefully I'll end up in a more structured development environment where we can try things like this.
At Microsoft, we sometimes use “personas” when designing features and writing specs. A “persona” is an imaginary character we invent to embody a set of characteristics for a particular target group of users. For example, “Jane is an MBA who has a job in the IT department at a major insurance company. She writes code, but does not consider herself a 'coder' as much as a business analyst. She... (and so on)” Then the whole product team runs around citing Jane's preferences when debating the relative merits of a particular design decision.

Nice GUI (not)
Check out this GUI.
Usability blunders
If you have ever used Araxis Merge their GUI is very similar and just as annoying. Their developers should be fired for designing a GUI with questions like this or for listening to management when mangement requested it. I bet their QA has a bug entered for it and no-one is game to fix it, perhaps for backward compatibility.
Novell sues Microsoft
Nice, I am not a Microsoft fan so I hope Novell gets lots of money and uses it to make Linux useable.
Novell (Profile, Products, Articles) Inc. on Friday filed an antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft (Profile, Products, Articles) Corp., accusing the software giant of unfairly eliminating competition for office productivity applications during the time Novell owned the WordPerfect word processing application and the Quattro Pro spreadsheet application.
